Which Certification Should I get Prior to the ACSM CPT Certification?
Prior to getting the ACSM certification, I would highly recommend that you get certified through ACE. 90% of the material through ACE overlaps the with the ACSM certification. ACSM, however, is much more in-depth and more detailed than ACE.

Thanks for all the helpful information in your blogs. If the ACSM is more in-depth than ACE, why do you suggest getting the ACE certification first? Why not just get the ACSM certification to begin with?
ReplyDeleteACE will prepare your for the difficult material in ACSM. The ACSM material is much harder to study than the ACE material. You will have a difficult time with ACSM if you do not already have an exercise science or related degree from a university. ACSM is very clinical in nature while ACE is more practical. The ACE anatomy dvds and the videos (ie. A book packaged with the ACE material called "The Fitness Professional Guide to Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Human Movement") will make the ACSM material much easier to understand. If you already have a health related degree then you should have no problems going with ACSM first.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
